Forgotten Island
“Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” co-directors Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado will re-team for a new animated movie at Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation titled “Forgotten Island”.
The pair will write and direct the comedy adventure which transports the film’s protagonists to a long-forgotten, magical island rooted in Philippine mythology. A September 25th 2026 release date has been set. [Source: THR]
Untitled Rob Savage Film
Jessica Chastain has signed on to star in a new horror film from director Rob Savage at Atomic Monster, Blumhouse, and Universal Pictures. The project will be based on the novel “Incidents Around the House” by Josh Malerman.
The story revolves around a haunting told from the perspective of a young girl whose troubled family is targeted by an entity she calls ‘Other Mommy.’ James Wan is producing. [Source: Deadline]
The Mosquito Bowl
He-Man and Pennywise are teaming up – Nicholas Galitzine and Bill Skarsgård have been set to star in Peter Berg’s new WW2 film “Mosquito Bowl” at Netflix. The project is based on Buzz Bissinger’s book of the same name with Berg and Mark L. Smith (“The Revenant”) adapting the script.
The story is set after the attack on Pearl Harbor, when four of America’s top college football stars set their fame aside to enlist in the Marines. As they prepare for the brutal invasion of Okinawa, they play in a legendary game that, for many, will be the last they ever play. Berg, Brian Grazer and Alex Gayner produce. [Source: Deadline]
Dune Awakening
Funcom has announced the new “Dune: Awakening” MMORPG game will now launch on PC on June 10th with Deluxe or Ultimate Edition holders getting five days of early access starting on June 5th. The three week-long postponement is due to feedback the developer has collected from its Closed Beta tests. Console versions still haven’t set a release date as yet. [Source: Funcom]
Dune Messiah
Actress Florence Pugh has confirmed she will begin filming Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic “Dune Messiah” this Summer. Pugh returns as Princess Irulan from the second “Dune” for this third and final outing with Denis Villeneuve’s involvement. Her character is expected to have much bigger part to play and pugh says: “I hope we see more of her. I want more cool outfits!”. [Source: Harpers Bazaar]
One Battle After Another
Warner Bros. Discovery has released new posters from Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” with the one-sheets offering new looks at Leonardo DiCaprio and Teyana Taylor’s characters in the film which opens September 26th.
The story deals with a group of ex-revolutionaries seemingly coming together to help DiCaprio’s character try and find his daughter. Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti, Wood Harris, and Alana Haim co-star.
