The first official photo from the HBO and DC Studios series “Lanterns” has been released, showcasing stars Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler together on the film’s set.
The project, announced in May last year, is currently in production and follows Hal Jordan (Chandler), a legend amongst the space police force known as the Green Lanterns.
He is reluctantly mentoring John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), a younger Green Lantern. The two intergalactic cops get drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
Also onboard are Kelly MacDonald as town sheriff Kerry, Garret Dillahunt as a ruthless cowboy named William Macon, Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, and Poorna Jagannathan as Zoe.
Boasting a gritty “True Detective” vibe, the series is co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King with the first two episodes directed by James Hawes.
The series is expected to premiere on HBO sometime in 2026.
