Emmy winner Jon Bernthal has joined the growing cast of Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s epic poem “The Odyssey”.
“The Punisher” and “The Walking Dead” actor joins a cast that currently includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o and Charlize Theron.
As per usual, there are no specifics on what role the actor will play. Plenty of speculation has pegged Damon as Odysseus and Holland as Telemachus, but beyond that, it’s merely guesswork.
The $250 million budgeted mythic action epic will be shot using brand-new IMAX film technology. When it opens on July 17th 2026 worldwide, it aims to bring Homer’s 8th-century BCE foundational saga to giant screens for the first time.
The story follows the Greek hero Odysseus, king of Ithaca, and his journey home after the Trojan War, along with the many perils he and his crew encountered. Filming will take place in the UK, Morocco and Italy over the first few months of this year.
Bernthal will be seen this Spring on Netflix in both the “Daredevil: Born Again” series and “The Accountant 2” film.
