HBO has released a new date announcement trailer for the second season of its TV series adaptation of “The Last of Us” based on the highly acclaimed Naughty Dog game series.
The release came as a part of Sony’s CES 2025 press conference and confirmed the new run of the show will premiere in April.
The new seven-episode season filmed between January and August last year in Canada and adapts part of the story narrative of “The Last of Us Part II”. There’s expected to be structural change-ups from the game to a somewhat more linear narrative.
The second season will deal with the ramifications of Joel’s actions in the first season finale as Ellie and her make a new life for themselves in Jackson.
His actions have had consequences which are about to change their lives forever. Kaitlyn Dever joins the cast as Abby, a key character who will impact Joel and Ellie’s lives in ways unimaginable and can be heard in the trailer.
Bella Ramsey, Pedro Pascal, Gabriel Luna, Rutina Wesley, Young Manzino, Isabela Merced, Jeffrey Isaac, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Danny Ramirez and Catherine O’Hara co-star in the new run.
