Netflix, Prime (for the deliveries), a few PVOD movies, and a smattering of random streamers, and suddenly your monthly subscription is back to what you were paying for premium cable. It is no surprise that a cost of living crisis makes people hesitate to sign up to another streaming service. This makes it difficult for second-tier streamers to break through.
Apple TV+ is one of them. Many Outposters comment that it’s a candidate for future short-term subscription and binge watch, rather than an ongoing commitment. This is a shame, as it’s the streamer that quietly produces some of the best content out there.
Silo, Slow Horses, Ted Lasso, Severance, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Hijack, For All Mankind… it is all there, on the little streamer that could. Now, there is a New Year promotion brewing at Apple TV+.
The streaming service will be available for free to anyone on any device where Apple TV+ is currently available through a standard, cost-free Apple ID account. The promotion will last for just three days – from January 3rd to 5th. So enough time for a binge-watch of a couple of shows.
Of course, after this, there may be some kind of auto sign-up as they won’t be doing this purely out of kindness. Still, if you have been resisting, then this could be your chance.
Apple TV+ is available on all sorts of devices, including smart TVs and Firesticks.
This weekend, see for yourself.

If you want to do all of Slow Horses, you will need to start early and commit.
