Netflix has premiered the teaser trailer for its sequel to Adam Sandler’s 1995 cult classic comedy “Happy Gilmore” which will release early next year.

The 1995 film saw Sandler playing a failed hockey player with anger management issues who finds unexpected success on the pro golf tour. the title became a massive home video hit and remains one of Sandler’s signature roles.

Here he returns alongside Julie Bowen as his love interest Virginia Venit, and Christopher McDonald rival golfer Shooter McGavin.

Joining the fray this time are Nick Swardson, Benny Safdie, Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley, Scott Mescudi, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Travis Kelce and John Daly.

Kyle Newacheck (“Murder Mystery”) is directing the film which doesn’t require much in the way of visual effects, and so is able to get out fairly quickly – the title only began shooting in September and is believed to be targeting an Easter 2025 release.

The sequel is co-written by Tim Herlihy from the original movie. Dennis Dugan, the first film’s director, executive produces. Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds also produce.
