Scream 7
Courteney Cox has reportedly finally signed on for “Scream 7” at Spyglass Entertainment reports Variety. Cox will once again play Gale Weathers in this seventh installment of the beloved horror franchise.
The actress previously indicated she was still waiting for a final script before signing on. Neve Campbell, Mason Gooding Jr., Isabel May, McKenna Grace, Sam Rechner and Asa Germann are all confirmed to be onboard for the project while Jasmin Savoy Brown expected to return as well.
The 2024 Game Awards
This year’s Game Awards broke the event’s viewership record. The ceremony reportedly pulled in an estimated 154 million livestreams and over four million peak concurrent users on Twitch/YouTube. The figure was announced by event producer and host Geoff Keighley.
Those numbers were up 31% compared to 2023’s event which snagged 118 million livestreams. It marks the tenth consecutive year of growth for The Game Awards which has become a major launching pad for new game announcements. [Source: X]
Bad Monkey
Production on the second season of the Vince Vaughn-led, Florida Keys-set crime comedy “Bad Monkey” is uprooting from shooting on location in Florida to the less humid climes of California.
The new season has scored approximately $20.6 million in tax credits to shoot on the U.S. west coast by the California Film Commission – the title successfully lured to the state which has been struggling with production levels lower than during last year’s strikes. [Source: THR]
Brides
NEON has reportedly picked up the North American rights to Chloe Okuno’s horror film “Brides” which reunites her with her “Watcher” star Maika Monroe. Filming begins in March.
Monroe plays Sally Bishop, a woman who travels with her husband to a remote Italian villa where the owner, a mysterious count, takes a peculiar interest in Sally. Okuno wrote the original screenplay. [Source: THR]
Magazine Dreams
Nearly two years after the Jonathan Majors-led bodybuilding film “Magazine Dreams” was a major sensation at the Sundance Film Festival, the film has finally secured a release date with writer-director Elijah Bynum‘s feature hitting cinemas on March 21st 2025. Haley Bennett, Taylour Paige, Mike O’Hearn, Harrison Page and Harriet Sansom Harris co-star in the film which Briarcliff Entertainment is releasing. [Source: Deadline]
