Apple TV+ has renewed its acclaimed sci-fi drama “Silo” for a third and fourth season with that fourth season set to be the show’s last. The order means the show will have the breathing room to fully adapt Hugh Howley’s novel trilogy.
The renewal order comes as the Rebecca Ferguson-led post-apocalyptic tale is midway through airing its ten-episode second season with the season finale scheduled to debut on January 17th.
The series follows the last few thousand people on Earth living in a mile-deep home protecting them from the toxic and deadly world outside. However, no one knows when or why the silo was built and any who try to find out face fatal consequences.
Ferguson plays Juliette, an engineer who seeks answers about a loved one’s murder and tumbles onto a mystery that goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined. Tim Robbins, Common, Steve Zahn, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, Alexandria Riley, Steve Zahn and Iain Glen co-star.
Series showrunner and executive producer Graham Yost says:
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this complete story to the screen over the course of four seasons. With the final two chapters of ‘Silo’, we can’t wait to give fans of the show an incredibly satisfying conclusion to the many mysteries and unanswered questions contained within the walls of these silos.”
No word as yet when the third season will go into production.
