One of the biggest highlights of The Game Awards this past week was the reveal of a fourth game in “The Witcher” series from developer CD Projekt Red.

That reveal confirmed that the new title will put the focus on Ciri as the lead character rather than Geralt of Rivia. Now, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that newcomer Ciara Berkeley (“The Deceived”) is taking over the voice of Ciri with her work seen in that first trailer.

Jo Wyatt previously played the character in the third title released back in 2015. Wyatt is an animation and video game voice veteran whose game work spans “Dragon Age,” “Horizon,” “Xenoblade Chronicles,” “Mass Effect,” “Trials,” “Star Wars: The Old Republic,” and “Street Fighter” among many others. On TV she’s best known for her work as Tweak on “The Octonauts”.

The news follows actor Doug Cockle telling GeekTown the other week that he was scolded by CD Projekt for saying his character would be in the fourth game.

Cockle indicated in August he’d yet to see a script for the game but suggested that Geralt will be part of it – he just didn’t know to what extent beyond knowing that the title would not focus on Geralt.

In the recent chat he indicated he now doesn’t actually know if Geralt will appear in the game at all:

“Well, you know, I did go online and I said something about this and then I got slapped by CD Projekt. I don’t know how true it is. I went off a rumour – I thought I’d seen somebody from CD Projekt say that Geralt will be in The Witcher 4 but he won’t be the main character, and I don’t actually know if that’s true now.

They came back [to me] and they went ‘we haven’t put anything out there, don’t say anything’, so the truth is, the answer to your question is I don’t know what it’s going to be.”

CD Projekt confirmed last month that the fourth game had started full production and so is likely a few years away from release.
