A strange one popped up on Twitter yesterday, Billy Zane as Marlon Brando. Scrolling through Twitter, it just looked like a picture of Brando from The Godfather, but the caption said “First look at Billy Zane as Marlon Brando in a new biopic”.

That’s scary how good it looks. Obviously, the makeup is doing most of the work, but the likeness is uncanny. It will be interesting to see how Zane plays the character.

The still is from a biopic called Waltzing with Brando. The cast includes Zane, Tia Carrere, Richard Dreyfuss, John Heder, Alaina Huffman, Camille Razat, and Rob Corddry.

Bill Fishman is the writer and director, while Bernard Judge is adapting his memoir of the same title. Fishman has only really directed music videos for bands like Suicidal Tendencies, Nickleback, Hank Williams, and Jessica Simpson. There’s quite the cross-section there.

The story for Waltzing with Brando is:

Movie star Marlon Brando recruits a Los Angeles architect to build the world’s first ecologically perfect retreat on a small, uninhabited island in Tahiti.

I wonder who will play Jeffery Epstein? I would like to think that Brando wasn’t like that, but, to quote Rachel Zegler:

“This is Hollywood, baby!”.

Brando and Judge tried to introduce sustainable architecture and practices on a small island called Tetiaroa, on the Pacific Coast. Zane was interviewed in 2019 and said about Brando that he was:

“…aware of his passion for environmental rights, which was so prescient and so timely.”

At the moment, Waltzing with Brando is still looking for a distributor to release the movie, but it looks interesting.
