Oscar nominee Colman Domingo is reportedly set to make his directorial debut on the drama feature “Scandalous” at Miramax.
Set in 1957, the project is set to star Sydney Sweeney as famed “Vertigo” actress Kim Novak and “Alien: Romulus” scene stealer David Jonsson as singer/dancer/actor and original Rat Pack member Sammy Davis Jr.
The pair met at the peak of their star power when they met while guests on “The Steve Allen Show” and fell hard for each other, but as rumors spread about their covert affair, racism threatened to derail their careers.
Nine days after a detailed account of their relationship was published, Davis married a Black chorus girl named Loray White.
Sweeney was key in putting the project together and will produce along with Tani Cohen and Bobby Rock. Matthew Fantaci wrote the script and the project is planning to film in Los Angeles.
Domingo is coming off acclaimed turns in “Rustin” and “Sing Sing” and is working on a Nat King Cole biopic that he would star in and direct.
