John Wick is out of control! Someone killed his dog, now we are 4 sequels in and the population of a small country has died because of it. Not only that, but there is a spin off movie coming out as well. From the World of John Wick: Ballerina which recently had a trailer.
It seems that the Ballerina has already had reshoots, but it looks like they shot without Len Wiseman, the original director.
Chad Stahelski, the original director of John Wick, was brought in for some of the reshoots, but it turns out it was more than just reshoots.
According to Ian McShane, John Wick cornerstone, said that the reshoots were more like “new shoots”, he said:
“They’re new-shooting for Ballerina. You know, it’s like, they’ve gotta protect the franchise. We did it about a year ago. And they’ve looked at it and Chad’s come in. And they wanna make it better cause they have to protect [the franchise].”
The Wrap reported that multiple sources have said that most of the reshoots were in fact new shoots for most of the movie. For two or three months, the new shoots took place in Prague, without the presence of Wiseman, the “director”.
One source explained:
“Of course, Chad had to clean up someone else’s mess. Remember, this film is basically John Wick 3.5. This story happens before John Wick 4 and after that film, they can’t have a failure in anything ‘Wick’ related.”
This might be good news, or it might be terrible news, the proof in the pudding will be the eating. Ballerina does star Ana De Armas, so it’s going to be popular. Is it going to be any good though?
Lionsgate is producing the movie and it’s not the only recent issue with reshoots.
It was reported that Tim Miller, Deadpool director, was brought in to reshoot some of the scenes of Borderlands. Eli Roth was the original director but had issues. We know how Borderlands turned out.
