Captain America: Brave New World nears release after some fairly extensive reshoots, and delays from both COVID and the strikes. With four months to go until the release, something Marvel will have feared has happened. Some major leaks have found their way online.
Big if true! So what is the nature of these leaks? They first cropped up on Reddit (where else!) with several connected scoopers then chiming in, as the rumors spread, that this matches what they are hearing.
So what are the rumors saying? Be warned, there is a lot here.
*Potential Major Spoiler Warning*
Betty Ross (Liv Tyler) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) both appear. Amadeus Cho appears and is working at Stark Industries.
Tim Blake Nelson’s The Leader is behind the plot, which centers on mind control technology being deployed via cellphones. One of these causes the assassination attempt on US President Ross.
The Leader is also behind the Red Hulk, which is triggered by Ross’s blood pressure, something he uses lollipops to control.
The Serpent Society, and Giancarlo Esposito’s Sidewinder, appear but not as major players. They are stealing stealing adamantium. There is a big naval battle, and there is also a key scene where Sam and Red Hulk fight at the White House.
The mid-credits scene sees The Leader warning that something “big and bad” is coming and hints that Cho has been given the Hulk serum.
According to Dark Horizons, scooper Daniel Richtman has seemingly confirmed this last point and added that this is meant to set up World War Hulk.
Captain America: Brave New World is directed by Julius Onah, who co-wrote the script with Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. It is finally scheduled to be released in cinemas on Valentine’s Day next year.
