Amazon has reportedly opted to ditch two major series projects after several years of development on both.
The first is a sequel to the 1980s sitcom “Who’s the Boss?” with both Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano attached to reprise their roles from the original.
That project was setup at Freevee in 2022 after two years in development at Sony Pictures Television.
Milano would return as Samantha Micelli who is now a single mother living in the same house where she grew up in the original show. Danza would play her now retired father.
Mike Royce and Brigitte Muñoz-Liebowitz (“One Day at a Time”) came aboard as writers and executive producers with the late Norman Lear also among the executive producers.
The other project was a “Bosch” spin-off focusing on Jamie Hector’s character Detective Jerry Edgar. It and a spin-off centering on Detective Renée Ballard were both in development at one time.
The Ballard series got a series order last year with Maggie Q playing the title character and John Carroll Lynch also starring. That series will come to air after “Bosch: Legacy” ends its run with a third season in 2025.
Michael Connelly Laurence Andries, Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate were all going to executive produce the Edgar series.
