Disney has released another trailer and new poster for “Moana 2,” the clip clocking in at just one-minute long.
The sequel to its celebrated 2016 animated hit takes audiences on an expansive new voyage with Moana, Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers.
Cravalho and Johnson reprise their Moana and Maui roles respectively. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.
The project was originally planned as a TV series, but early on the company opted to retool it and produce a second film. Moana will start off the film taking on the role of chief leader of her tribe, and dealing with a younger sister this time out.
The new movie is directed by Dave Derrick Jr. with music by winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina (Lin-Manuel Miranda is not returning).
“Moana” made $680 million at the box office and has racked up well over a billion hours streamed on Disney+. A live-action adaptation of the first film is also in the works.
“Moana 2” arrives in cinemas on November 27th.
