The Penguin arrived on Max and the strong reception to episode one, plus the good reviews for the rest of the series from professional critics who have seen it, seems to be piquing some dormant interest in the version of Gotham created by Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

That three-hour-long Bat-epic has been somewhat divisive in hindsight, but knowing there is a plan and that Robert Pattinson is quickly becoming one of the most interesting young actors out there, people are going curious to see where this goes.

The Penguin executive producer, and writer / director of The Batman, Matt Reeves has now confirmed that the script for The Batman Part II is finished.

The sequel is planned to film early next year for an October 2026 debut. In an interview with EW, Reeves confirms all is progressing as planned, and The Penguin really will serve as an entry point into the world that Bruce Wayne will be navigating in the sequel:

“Oz does become one of the entry points into the movie. I can’t tell you where it goes from there except to say that we’re super excited about it.”

The second movie will continue the deeper dive into the grubby and corrupt side of Gotham City, and its rotten politics. This has led many to speculate that the Court Of Owls may be making an appearance.

The Court is described as an organization of the wealthiest and most influential citizens of the city of Gotham, having existed since the city’s founding and completely unknown among its general population outside of an urban legend centered around their reputation for grisly assassinations carried out by indoctrinated agents known as Talons.
