With the Emmys held last night, top executives from the networks and streamers were in attendance to talk about the success of their various shows.

That includes the chiefs of two of the three big winners – FX which dominated thanks to “Shogun” and “The Bear,” and HBO which won for numerous series – most notably “Hacks” (Netflix was the other frequent winner last night)

John Landgraf, chairman of FX Content and FX Productions, was asked by Deadline about where things are in regards to the second season of “Shogun”.

He says scripts and outlines are coming in to the network and they’re currently trying to figure out where to film and whether they’ll make any changes to their approach for the second season.

He also shoots down reports of the second and third seasons filming back to back, saying they are “separate narratives” albeit “part of one continuous narrative with continuing characters”. He adds he’s not certain there will be three seasons but he does feel “three is the right number of seasons to really do it justice.”

As for “The Bear,” he says they have finished shooting most of the fourth season but still have a bit more to do. For now, the aim is for the series to be “ready same time next year” as it was this year. He also confirmed he doesn’t know if this will be the show’s final season.

On the HBO front, Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys offered status updates on the new seasons of multiple series. First up, he says the third season of “The White Lotus” and the second season of “The Last of Us” are both locked to be in the current Emmy awards qualifying window.

That means both should premiere before the end of May, but a more exact date isn’t known. Both shows have already wrapped production a while back though and “The Last of Us” shot a few days of exterior location pickup shots in Vancouver this week.

In regards to more “True Detective,” he says showrunner Issa López is busy writing the next season and he doesn’t expect a return to Night Country’s Ennis, Alaska setting. “Euphoria” is still on track to film its third season starting mid-January.

Writing has started on the “Harry Potter” TV series, with department heads and casting being hired. He says they are not starting production in March as previously rumored, and a potential launch isn’t likely until late 2026-2027.
