Despite major presentations at both San Diego Comic Con and D23 this year, the fact of the matter is Marvel Studios didn’t actually reveal any new films or TV series on the way – only showing off material from or clearing up details of previously announced projects.

Part of that seems to be due to a deliberate slowing of the rollout of fare at Disney with the studio believed to be sticking to just two live-action series per year from now on – which means 2025 is already locked with “Daredevil: Born Again” and “Ironheart,” while 2026 is likely set too with “Wonder Man” and the “Vision” series.

The next cab off the rank, and the only Marvel work due out for the remainder of 2024, is the “Agatha All Along” series. Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum has been out promoting it recently and spoke about the company’s shift of strategy.

Last week he commented to Phase Zero on a “Nova” series, saying it is in development along with a lot of other titles and he warned that “we are developing more than we make” and won’t go forward with a show until they’re happy with it. Should that one go forward, it will have “shades of Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica”.

The other day he spoke with EW and says the company is rethinking its TV strategy and, along with the shift to more traditional showrunner and pilot model, they’s also considering producing more multiple seasons of series rather than the one-off limited series runs:

“We are thinking about television really more like traditional television where they could last for multiple seasons, where we can see the characters brew in the culture for hopefully many years.

One thing we are doing is we’re developing a lot of shows now simultaneously. So, in a way, we’re making television more in a traditional style where we are going to write multiple pilots and show bibles before we decide what we want to produce and actually bring to the screen, which gives us an opportunity to experiment and also to plan all sorts of different Marvel sandboxes.”

One of the most likely candidates to be an ongoing show is “Daredevil: Born Again”, which is currently set for two seasons of nine episodes each and, should it go well, may get more. Winderbaum seems very excited about that one, saying:

“I’ll tell you, some of the most brutal action we’ve ever brought to the screen is coming in ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ which isn’t a horror show, but really it packs a lot of power, and there’s a lot of visceral action, to say the least.”

This shift to a more ongoing television format means some of the more recent series like “Hawkeye” or “Moon Knight” may get second seasons, while new “Blonde Phantom” and “The Punisher” series are being rumored amongst the fandom.

“Agatha All Along” premieres later this month, check out a new old school promo for the series below.
