Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator” sequel has reportedly set a final theatrical runtime of 141 minutes reports Feature First (via WoR).
That’s around 12 minutes shorter than the original film in 2000 which clocked in at 152 minutes for its theatrical. That film also boasted an extended edition which came in at 170 minutes.
The final version of “Gladiator II” is also approximately 20 minutes shorter than a 161-minute version of the sequel test screened earlier this year.
Though excitement for the film is high, the marketing has left much to be desired so far as what looks to be great footage is being marred by strange editing and music choices.
An extended teaser trailer was heavily criticised for its use of a Jay-Z and Kanye West song, and this week’s Pepsi ad tie-in with Megan Thee Stallion and Travis Kelce has similarly hit choppy waters.
Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, Joseph Quinn, Pedro Pascal, Fred Hechinger and Derek Jacobi star in the film which is reportedly budgeted at anywhere up to $310 million.
“Gladiator II” is set to hit cinemas on November 22nd.
