Tom Cruise and four-time Oscar winner Alejandro G. Iñàrritu’s new film together is gearing up at Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment.
A stacked cast has been announced as joining the project including Oscar-nominated Sandra Hüller (“Anatomy of a Fall”), Emmy winner John Goodman, Oscar nominee Jesse Plemons, industry veteran Michael Stuhlbarg and “Talk to Me” breakout Sophie Wilde.
In addition, Oscar winner Riz Ahmed is in final negotiations to join the cast of “The Revenant,” “Birdman” and “Amores Perros” director’s next project.
Iñàrritu co-wrote the screenplay with Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolas Giacobone. The story follows the most powerful man in the world who embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.
Cruise is producing the project. The news comes as scooper DanielRPK is reporting that Cruise is in talks to star in Doug Liman’s “Deeper” as his post-Iñàrritu project at Warners. The film was originally penned by Max Landis when it was first announced back in 2016.
The supernatural thriller follows a disgraced astronaut on a deep-sea dive exploring a newly discovered trench – but soon finds himself confronted by a sinister and dangerous force. It’s dubbed “Gravity” meets “The Martian”.
