Netflix has confirmed that Guy Ritchie’s action-comedy series “The Gentlemen” has been renewed for a second season – the order coming five months after the series released.
Theo James and Kaya Scodelario will return for eight episodes, reprising their respective roles as aristocrat Eddie Horniman and drug empire heiress Susie Glass.
Ritchie is also back writer and director, alongside co-writer Matthew Read. The series serves as a spin-off of the 2019 film which Ritchie directed and which starred the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell, Charlie Hunnam and Hugh Grant.
Further cast members for the new season will be announced later and follow on from first season co-stars Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson and Giancarlo Esposito.
In the series Edward Horniman (James) unexpectedly inherits an estate of 15,000 acres. He also finds his land is part of a weed-growing empire run by Susie Glass.
In its first week on Nielsen’s U.S. rankings, the series took in 1.21 billion minutes viewed. That rose to 1.9 billion minutes viewed in its second week and remained in the Top 10 well into April. The show is also up for three Emmy awards.
