Just as the second season of “House of the Dragon” airs its finale, author George R.R. Martin has indicated HBO is still hard at work developing more “Game of Thrones” spin-offs.
Appearing at the Oxford Writers’ House, Martin indicates that there are currently seven shows in development – four animated, three live-action and almost all prequels reports Forbes.
How many of them will actually make it to screen is unclear. The next confirmed show is “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” which is currently in production in Ireland.
Two of the live-action shows are also fairly easy to guess – one about Aegon the Conqueror, and one already announced one called “Ten Thousand Ships” about the Nymeria and the Rhoynar. Martin previously indicated that particular series is back in development.
As for the animated series, one guess is the previously teased project about Corlys Velaryon (aka. The Sea Snake) as doing that live-action is being seen as prohibitively expensive.
Another is “The Golden Empire” about this world’s equivalent of Imperial China called the Yi Ti, and a third could be “Robert’s Rebellion” about Robert Baratheon’s deposing of the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen several decades before ‘Thrones’.
A series about Kit Harington’s Jon Snow which was in development, seemed to be dead earlier this year with the actor saying it was off the table.
