The final box-office estimates are in with Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” taking in $205 million domestically and $233.3 million overseas for a worldwide debut weekend of $438.3 million.

To put in perspective how crazy the numbers are, the film’s opening weekend handily took in more than twice the total theatrical gross of Marvel Studios prior film “The Marvels”.

It was easily the biggest opening ever for a film starring Ryan Reynolds or Hugh Jackman, and the biggest for director Shawn Levy.

The number of records broken are staggering and include the following:

– The biggest R-rated opening of all time – both worldwide and domestic.
– The biggest worldwide and international opening of the year.
– The biggest worldwide opening since “Avatar: The Way of Water”.
– The biggest July opening weekend of all-time domestically.
– The biggest opening weekend domestically of 2024.
– The biggest opening weekend domestically since “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in 2021.
– The eighth biggest opening weekend domestically of all time.
– The fifth biggest superhero film opening weekend domestically of all time.

It’s also the 34th consecutive MCU release to debut #1 at the
domestic box office, it has pushed Marvel Studios past the $30 billion box-office mark, and gives the MCU 11 of the Top 20 opening domestic weekends of all time.

Levy also wrote a tribute to Reynolds for all the work he put in working on and releasing the film.
