U.S. President Joe Biden signed an executive order yesterday setting new security measures regarding the use of artificial intelligence.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Deputy White House chief of staff Bruce Reed said the issue had become important to the President. Part of that was due to seeing “fake AI images of himself” along with the “terrifying technology of voice cloning”.

Reed also says concerns from Biden grew after a Camp David screening of “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” in which a form of artificial intelligence known as ‘the Entity’ serves as the film’s antagonist.

Reed, who watched the film with Biden, said: “If he hadn’t already been concerned about what could go wrong with AI before that movie, he saw plenty more to worry about.”

Biden has also met in recent months with scientists who explained the potential upsides and dangers of AI. The order includes developing standards, tools and tests to ensure safety in AI systems.

Biden, and the rest of us, are in for a long wait for “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two” which isn’t expected to drop until May 2025. “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” relesed on 4K UDH, Blu-ray and DVD today.
