Showtime has announced “Dexter: Resurrection,” a new series in the franchise which will see Michael C. Hall returning to the lead role as Dexter Morgan.
That series will be set in the present day and serves as a follow-up to 2021’s revival series “Dexter: New Blood”.
In addition, Hall will also narrate the inner voice of a young Dexter (played by Patrick Gibson) for the previously announced prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin” which is set in the 1990s.
The announcements were made during a panel for “Dexter” at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, with Hall himself making a surprise appearance at the confab.
Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global co-CEO says in a statement: “While Dexter: Resurrection will appeal to the tens of millions of longtime fans, Dexter: Original Sin will introduce a whole new generation of viewers into this iconic series by starting from the beginning, which is sure to satisfy existing audiences as well.”
Clyde Phillips, the executive producer and showrunner of both shows revealed that “Dexter: Original Sin” is set to premiere in December this year with “Dexter: Resurrection” coming along Summer 2025.
