Both actor Tom Cruise and filmmaker Doug Liman say they’re still very much interested in a sequel to 2014’s “Edge of Tomorrow”.
Liman, currently out promoting his upcoming film “The Instigators,” spoke with Empire and says he and Cruise continue to be in touch about the film over the years:
“We keep talking about it… We love that world. Tom and I just actually rewatched it about two months ago, because I hadn’t seen it in ten years. I was like, ‘Wow, that is a really good movie.’”
Both them and co-star Emily Blunt have all expressed continued interest in making a follow-up to the time loop film in which Cruise plays a soldier reliving the same day over and over as he tries to prevent an alien invasion from wiping out humanity.
Though only a moderate box office success with $370 million worldwide, it has since found a major following on home video and continues to be well-received by audiences and critics.
Warner Bros. Pictures announced in 2019 that it was officially developing a sequel, but there’s been no update since then. When Cruise recently signed a deal with Warner Bros. to develop movies there, speculation has since been high that the sequel would be one of those projects.
