Two brief bits of Marvel casting to report today.

First up, Benedict Cumberbatch has confirmed his return as Doctor Strange for Marvel Studios’ fifth “Avengers” film. In addition, he’s also confirmed a filming window.

Appearing in a video for the service in which he revisits some of his most famous roles, Cumberbatch brought up Strange before going on to talk his relationship with Marvel Studios:

“It’s been a pretty lovely relationship with that company…I’m very much looking forward to Avengers next year, it’s cooking up a storm”

Rumors have swirled that the next “Avengers” will shoot early next year ahead of a planned May 1st 2026 release. Most recently filmmaker Shawn Levy (“Deadpool & Wolverine”) was linked to direct the project.

Meanwhile, Jeff Sneider is reporting on a new episode of The Hot Mic podcast that Sony Pictures has begun looking into casting for the live-action role of Miles Morales/Spider-Man.

Asked what project it would be for, Sneider didn’t have any further information at this time – only that feelers are out for the part.

Rumours of a Miles Morales-led live-action film have circled for a while, and with a fourth Tom Holland-led “Spider-Man” likely on the way there is always the possibility of a cameo or supporting appearance.
