Apple TV+ has premiered the trailer for the Natalie Portman-led limited thriller series “Lady in the Lake” based on the Laura Lippman novel.
Baltimore, Thanksgiving 1966. The disappearance of a young girl sees the convergence of two women’s lives.
One is Jewish housewife Maddie Schwartz (Natalie Portman) who seeks to forget her past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist.
The other is Cleo Johnson (Moses Ingram), a mother navigating the political underbelly of Black Baltimore while struggling to provide for her family.
When Maddie becomes fixated on Cleo’s mystifying death, everyone around them is suddenly put in danger. Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Byron Bowers, Noah Jupe, Josiah Cross, Mikey Madison and Pruitt Taylor Vince co-star.
The series is created and directed by Alma Har’el who executive produces with Portman, Lippman, Christopher Leggett, Sophie Mas; Nathan Ross, Julie Gardner, Layne Eskridge, Amy Kaufman. Boaz Yakin and the late Jean-Marc Vallée.
The series premieres with two episodes on July 19th followed by weekly debuts after that.
