Two films from some major filmmakers have set release dates.
First up, Lionsgate Studios has officially acquired Francis Ford Copoola’s new epic feature “Megalopolis” with the film to score a theatrical release in the United States on September 27th.
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group’s Adam Fogelson said in a statement: “At Lionsgate, we strive to be a home for bold and daring artists, and Megalopolis proves there is no one more bold or daring than the maestro, Francis Ford Coppola.”
“Megalopolis” premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival this past May where it was met with mixed reviews from critics but drew more attention than most other films combined. Coppola spent around $120 million of his own money to fund the film.
Next, Jordan Peele appears to have revealed the release date for his next film on X. The “Get Out,” “Us” and “Nope” filmmaker shared a strange post with the date October 23th 2026.
No official confirmation has come yet, but many are already pegging it as him announcing the release date for his next film which has no title or cast as yet.
The movie was originally slated for a Christmas 2024 release but production last year was stopped before it could begin due to the Hollywood strikes with the title pulled from the release calendar.
