Two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali is in talks to join Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the new “Jurassic World” feature at Universal Pictures.
Plot details are under wraps but the film is said to not include any of the stars of prior installments and is being seen as a semi-reboot.
David Koepp, the original screenwriter of “Jurassic Park” and “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” has penned the script for the new film.
Gareth Edwards (“Rogue One”) is directing the creature feature which is quickly locking down its cast ahead of a mid-June start in London.
Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce and Steven Spielberg executive produces. Universal has already set a theatrical release of July 2nd 2025 and the whole production will be sprinting to make that date.
Ali is coming off the major Netflix success in “Leave the World Behind” and voicing a key character in “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”.
