Netflix has finally and officially begun production in Ireland on the second season of its breakout hit “Wednesday” with the streamer making some big casting announcements today.

First up, three first-season regulars are effectively out – Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe, Naomi J Ogawa as Yoko Tanaka and Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin.

McShane is the only one returning albeit in a guest star capacity only – likely just to wrap his story. Ogawa was a background character effectively sidelined by series end so her absence isn’t surprising. White was a key character in the first and still alive, but he’s out this year.

Meanwhile three other key Addams actors – Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams – are all being upped to series regulars this year. As is Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Deputy Ritchie Santiago.

New series regulars include Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort, Billie Piper as Capri and the likes of Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor.

Returning first-season series regulars include Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, Emma Myers as Enid, Joy Sunday as Bianca, Hunter Doohan as Tyler, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene and Georgie Farmer as Ajax.

Season 2 guest stars include Fred Armisen reprising his role as Uncle Fester, Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Addams, Thandiwe Newton as Dr. Fairburn, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, Joonas Suotamo, and the one and only Christopher Lloyd (who played Uncle Fester in the big screen “Addams Family” films).

Filming has moved to Ireland from Romania where much of the first season was shot. A photo is also out from the second season script read which sees many of the series regulars, along with showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar and director Tim Burton, posing together.

There’s also an announcement video reel you can see below. The first season racked up 252 million views and spent 20 weeks in the streamer’s global top ten.
