Netflix has premiered the first trailer for its Benedict Cumberbatch-led six-episode thriller series “Eric”.
The “Sherlock” star plays Vincent, a New York puppeteer and the creator of a popular children’s television show whose nine-year-old son, Edgar, disappears one morning on the way to school.
Vincent becomes increasingly distressed, self-loathing and volatile. He clings to a psychological lifeline – his son’s drawings of a blue monster puppet, Eric.
Vincent is convinced that if he can get Eric on TV then Edgar will come home. But his progressively destructive behavior alienates all those around him.
Gaby Hoffmann, McKinley Belcher III, Dan Fogler and Clarke Peters co-star in the project which hails from celebrated “The Hours” creator Abi Morgan.
The series is directed by Lucy Forbes and executive produced by Morgan, Jane Featherstone, Lucy Dyke, Lucy Forbes and Cumberbatch. It premieres on May 30th.
