“Blackbird” and “Cruella” star Paul Walter Hauser has joined the Liam Neeson-led untitled “The Naked Gun” reboot at Paramount Pictures.
Hauser will take on the role of Captain Ed, the role played in prior films by George Kennedy. Pamela Anderson also stars in the film.
“Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers” writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand are reuniting with that film’s director Akiva Schaffer on the project.
“The Naked Gun” films, a reinvention of the short-lived TV series “Police Squad!,” were a massive success in the late 1980s/early 1990s.
Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker produced the films which made over $476 million at the box office from a combined budget of just $65 million.
Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins are producing the new film which has set a July 18th 2025 cinema release.
Hauser recently signed on for the Chris Farley biopic which Josh Gad is directing and will be heard in this Summer’s “Inside Out 2” as the voice of the emotion Embarrassment.
