Camouflaj (“Republique”) and Oculus Studios have announced the new VR game “Batman: Arkham Shadow” for release later this year – exclusively for the Meta Quest 3.
The new game reportedly is set within the same continuity with Rocksteady Studios’ “Batman: Arkham” games in much the same way Camouflaj’s “Iron Man VR” is set in the same world as Insomniac’s “Marvel’s Spider-Man” games.
Specifics of the plot are under wraps but the trailer sees Batman chasing a rate through a back alley, only to come across a horde of rats in the shadows.
It’s suggested The Ratcatcher is the game’s likely antagonist, an obscure villain in Batman lore who works for the Gotham City Sanitation Department and has the ability to control rats.
It follows on from the disastrous release of Rocksteady’s “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” which saw many delays, was heavily criticised for its live service elements, and failed to meet sales expectations.
Whilst the game isn’t out until the end of the year, the title’s big unveiling will take place as part of Summer GamesFest on June 7th.
