Recently Microsoft Gaming made the jump to multiplatform, going beyond the Windows ecosystem with some of its (now former) Xbox exclusives games like “Hi-Fi Rush,” “Sea of Thieves” and “Grounded” making their way to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch starting in March.

Announcing their quarterly earnings call on Thursday, CEO Satya Nadella revealed that even though this initiative has only just begun, Microsoft is already reaping the rewards of an increased multiplatform focus.

Thanks to combination of its acquisitions like Activision, Bethesda and Mojang, the company already had foothold on rival platforms with franchises like “Call of Duty” and “Minecraft”.

Combined with the new titles, Nadella says: “earlier this month, we had seven games among the top 25 on the PlayStation Store, more than any other publisher.”

The seven, according to Tweaktown, include “COD:MW3” at #2, “Overwatch 2” at #7, “Sea of Thieves” at #12, “Fallout 4” at #16, “Minecraft” at #19, “Fallout 76” at #20 and “Grounded” at #23.

That’s actually more first-party games among the PlayStation Store’s twenty-five best-selling titles than the five games Sony had as of mid-April (“MLB The Show 24,” “Destiny 2,” “Helldivers 2,” “Stellar Blade,” “Rise of the Ronin”).

Nadella added: “We are committed to meeting players where they are by bringing great games to more people on more devices.”

That quote is being seen as an acknowledgement that this is only the beginning with more Xbox titles potentially making the jump, especially multiplayer and potentially some of its few major single-player titles.

“Sea of Thieves,” which will hit PS5 on April 30th and has already topped pre-order charts, is being seen as a ‘key test’ as to whether they’ll proceed with more according to Gaming Bolt

Whilst there has been a significant decline in Xbox hardware sales, Microsoft’s gaming division had a record third quarter thanks to a boost from the Activision Blizzard acquisition.
