“Supernatural” and “The Boys” alum Jensen Ackles has been cast as Russell Shaw, estranged brother of Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw, on CBS drama series “Tracker”.
The network announced the casting on Friday, saying Ackles’ character will be introduced in the season’s penultimate episode “Off The Books” which premieres May 12th.
Hartley stars in the series as a lone-wolf survivalist who roams the country as a reward seeker, using his expert tracking skills to help private citizens and law enforcement.
In the episode, Colter is forced to team up with Russell who enlists his help to track down a former army buddy who’s gone missing after several weeks of paranoid behavior.
The investigation takes the brothers into the world of Special Forces missions, shady off-the-books programs and conspiracy theories, all while they contend with their family’s past.
The series has already been renewed for a second season and has been a strong ratings performer for the network. It is based on Jeffrey Deaver’s novel “The Never Game”.
Fiona Rene, Robin Weigert, Abby McEnany and Eric Graise also star.
