The film explores the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever.

It marks the first-ever fully CG-animated Transformers movie with the voice cast also including Scarlett Johansson as Elita, Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion and Steve Buscemi.

The film is directed by Josh Cooley with a script penned by Andrew Barrer, Steve Desmond, and Gabriel Ferrari. Lorenzo di Bonaventura produces the animated prequel which could serve as the start of a potential trilogy.
