Keanu Reeves will voice the role of Shadow in the upcoming third “Sonic the Hedgehog” film at Paramount Pictures.

Fans had speculated that Hayden Christensen would voice the character following a logo reveal the other month, but The John Campea Show shot down that talk yesterday whilst saying a major name had scored the role.

Today they revealed Reeves casting and since then THR has confirmed said casting with multiple sources.

The first footage for the film debuted at CinemaCon last week and showed off Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik looking more portly than his previous incarnations (and more in line with the games) who plays a part in the arrival of Shadow – a dark and edgy ‘anti-Sonic’ with the same power set.

The two “Sonic” films to date have earned $319 million and $404 million respectively with Jeff Fowler directing all three movies in the series. “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” opens December 20th.

Reeves has roles as an angel in Aziz Ansari’s “Good Fortune” and reprises his John Wick role for the spin-off “Ballerina” starring Ana De Armas.
