The second season finale of “Loki” effectively served as a series ending – whereas the first season finished on a cliffhanger, this was a fairly definitive end for the show and character’s journey.
Marvel being Marvel however means we likely haven’t seen the last of Tom Hiddleston’s character. Where he may pop up again though isn’t clear.
Making a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Hiddleston says he doesn’t know if he’ll return and either way he’s happy with where things have landed:
“I don’t know. I really don’t know. I know that we’ve reached some sort of narrative conclusion with season two, which feels very satisfying to me.”
Hiddleston adds that he doesn’t consider Loki a villain at this point, even as his character has made some “interesting choices” in his journey:
“I’m aware that he’s made some interesting choices, which could be accumulated into a picture that looks like he’s a villain, and once upon a time, he was making some misguided choices.
You know, trying to take over New York and the Avengers having to assemble to stop him, that was a bad day in the office. I’d like to think that 14 years later he’s making some slightly more generous, loving and heroic choices.”
Hiddleston is set to be busy in the near future as eight years after the first season aired, his BBC series “The Night Manager” has been renewed for a second and third season which is being co-produced by Amazon.
