When John Cena revealed at WrestleMania the other day that they’re about to begin shooting the second season of “Peacemaker” soon, it turns out he meant real soon.
Filmmaker James Gunn has confirmed in a posting on Instagram that production has officially begun on the new “Peacemaker” run with a photo of the character from behind (with Gunn reflected in it) and the caption “Day 1 S2”.
It marks the first “behind-the-scenes” shot from the new season. Gunn wrote all the scripts before commencing work on “Superman,” which he’s still filming.
His commitment to that will keep him from directing some of the second season of “Peacemaker”. Once “Superman” wraps filming (believed to be around August), Gunn is expected to be there to direct several episodes of the new season.
The next season will make the transition from the Snyder-verse to Gunn’s new DC Universe, just how that will happen isn’t clear but Gunn has previously said the first season isn’t canon even as many story strands from the first season will remain consistent.
Gunn has previously indicated the new season of “Peacemaker” won’t debut until after “Superman” releases on July 11th 2025, but if filming has begun it means we likely won’t have to wait much longer than that for it to debut.
