Apple TV+ has announced that it has renewed its MonsterVerse series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” for a second season.
That’s not all though. As part of a new deal with Legendary Entertainment, multiple spinoff series based on the Monsterverse franchise are also on the way.
The series is set in the same universe as 2014’s “Godzilla,” “Kong: Skull Island,” “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” “Godzilla vs. Kong” and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire”.
The first season jumped between two time periods – the 1950s and 2015 with Wyatt Russell and his father Kurt Russell playing different aged versions of the same character.
Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Mirelly Taylor, Joe Tippett, Elisa Lasowski and Christopher Heyerdahl co-starred.
Chris Black and Matt Fraction serve as executive producers on the series. Morgan Wandell, head of international development for Apple TV+, said in a statement:
“We couldn’t be more excited for viewers to not only have the chance to experience even more thrills in Season 2, but to embark on epic, new journeys in the franchise, as we expand Legendary’s Monsterverse.”
The order comes three months after the first season finale premiered on January 12th.
