Warner Bros. Pictures held its CinemaCon panel this afternoon in Las Vegas showcasing some of its major titles coming in the next year or so.
First up, George Miller, Chris Hemsworth and Anya-Taylor Joy appeared to promote “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga”. Miller confirmed that the movie was just completed last week and is now ready for release which will take place at the end of May.
Miller also gave an on-stage interview (via Deadline) on Monday where he advised you shouldn’t expect it to be simply a ‘Fury Road’ clone: “It’s different – you don’t want a film to be a repetition of what you’ve just done, it has to be uniquely familiar.”
Some extended footage showcased at the event and was split into three chapters – Her Odyssey Begins, A Warrior Awakens, Ride Into Vengeance. Sadly that footage won’t go online.
Next, James Gunn and Peter Safran showed the full Superman logo which is confirmed to be akin to the Kingdom Come design albeit with a traditional red lettering on yellow back rather than a black back.
They also screened the first trailer for the documentary “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” which will release this September in cinemas and officially mark the first film released under the new DC Studios label.
Then Bong Joon-Ho and Robert Pattinson appeared to showcase the first trailer for “Mickey17” with Bong explaining the title change from the “Mickey7” book because he “killed Robert Pattinson 10 more times”.
The film follows a man who works for a corporation that requires him to go on various suicide missions & die. One day however, one of his multiples survives. Attendee Matt Donnelly describes Pattinson’s accent choice for the film as “like Joe Pesci as Tweety Bird”.
M. Night Shyamalan’s “Trap” was showcased and is a horror film which takes place at a concert. Said concert is being used by the police in an attempt to lure in and catch a serial killer. Josh Hartnett stars in the film which opens August 9th.
A new extended trailer for “Beetlejuice BeetleJuice” was also shown. In one clip Winona Ryder says: “I can’t believe I’m doing this Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”. In one scene Jenna Ortega is seen with her mouth stitched up, there’s also some claymation and the return of the sandworm.
Finally Warners also premiered the new trailer for “Joker: Folie a Deux” which has just been released online.
