A year ago came the news that Daisy Ridley will officially be returning to the “Star Wars” universe in what’s deemed a ‘New Jedi Order’ film set fifteen years after “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”.

The role kicked off Ridley’s career, turning her into a recognisable face overnight and also putting her under the eye of a fandom that subsequently found itself rather divided regarding the sequel trilogy.

The announcement of her return has been met with a very positive response so far, even though the project hasn’t really seemed to make much progress since the news broke.

Speaking with Empire as part of that magazine’s upcoming issue devoted to “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” Ridley spoke about how her approach to the new film will be different this time:

“I suppose I feel more like I’m owning it. I suppose I owned it the first time. Basically, I’m an adult now. I certainly did not feel like an adult at the time.

Obviously, personally, things have changed, and professionally, I’ve had lots of other experiences, and so I definitely feel like it’s a different thing this time.

There’s just a lot of joy with me and these films Honestly, if I wasn’t excited, I wouldn’t have done it. It feels like a great thing to be a part of.

Ridley also says hopping back onboard the franchise “wasn’t a difficult decision” and says she’s excited for the challenge of reprising the role:

“I didn’t say yes right away, Kathy [Kennedy] was like, ‘Take as long as you need.’ Why wouldn’t I [do it]? Yes, they have been divisive, but also they bring a lot of love and joy to a lot of people.

It feels pretty amazing to be able to continue a character – like, can I even remember how to play her? It’s an interesting challenge as an actor to come back to something and try to figure out what’s changed for me and what’s changed for her.”

When the project will begin filming isn’t clear. Jon Favreau’s “The Mandalorian & Grogu” film is expected to begin shooting first before this goes forward.
