He’s won the Oscar for his work in “Oppenheimer,” but Robert Downey Jr. isn’t forgetting what helped revive his stardom – the role of Tony Stark.

Speaking with Esquire recently, the actor was asked if he would ever return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Downey Jr. says he’s open to it, and has high praise for Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige:

“Happily. It’s too integral a part of my DNA. That role chose me. And look, I always say, Never, ever bet against Kevin Feige. It is a losing bet. He’s the house. He will always win.”

Downey Jr. played the Tony Stark/Iron Man across three “Iron Man” films, “Captain America: Civil War” and four “Avengers” movies before his character died.

Officially there’s no reason or plans announced for his return, but with the multiverse hopping going on in the MCU and “Avengers; Secret Wars” in the works, it would hardly be a surprise.

The next MCU title is “Deadpool & Wolverine” which is set to release in theaters on July 26th.
