Fandango has done its annual Moviegoing Trends and Insights study and has revealed that, unsurprisingly, Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” has topped the list of the most anticipated films of the Summer film season.
Over 6,000 moviegoers were polled by Fandango, including 3,000 ticket buyers and 3,000 who purchased general tickets, and the results deal with the movies coming out between early May and late August.
Coming in second was “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” followed by “Despicable Me 4″ in third, ” A Quiet Place: Day One” in fourth, “Inside Out 2” in fifth, “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” in sixth, “The Watchers” in seventh, “The Fall Guy” in eighth, “The Garfield Movie” in ninth and “Borderlands” in tenth.
Fandango released a statement addressing the poll:
“As summer approaches, over half of all moviegoers surveyed plan to see four or more movies in theaters. Motivators for summer moviegoing range from anticipating newly released blockbusters to spending quality time with family and friends.
Summer 2024 is poised to welcome back cherished franchises, with Deadpool 3, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and Despicable Me 4 leading the top 10 most anticipated summer movies list, providing something for audiences of all ages.”
Last year it was “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” that topped the poll as the most anticipated watch for audiences.
