Ewan McGregor says he’s game for more appearances as Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and thinks there could be more appearances for his character.
McGregor, who played the role across the “Star Wars” prequel trilogy from 1999-2005, reprised the role for the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” mini-series in 2022.
That series takes place halfway between the end of ‘Sith’ and the beginning of ‘A New Hope,’ approximately nine years before the events of the latter. That leaves plenty of time for McGregor’s character to have interactions on (and off) Tatooine.
Asked about the possibility of another adventure with his character in the “Star Wars” universe, McGregor tells LADbible:
“I don’t know. There’s been no phone call to me from Lucasfilm or Disney saying, ‘Let’s do another one.’ Obi-Wan was made as a limited series, and it’s out, and people like it, which I’m very, very pleased about.
I’m sure we will [do more]. I’ve got a few years yet before I’m the same age as Alec Guinness was in ‘A New Hope.’ So there’s time to tell more stories in there.”
McGregor scored acclaim for his return to the role, even as the reaction to the series itself was a bit a more mixed – albeit still mostly positive. Even so, there’s been no official talk for another round of the Kenobi series at this time.
