Filmmaker Rhys Frake-Waterfield and producing partner Scott Chambers of Jagged Edge Productions have confirmed a third entry in the “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey” franchise is on the way.
The project will reportedly boast a bigger budget than the previous films and will see new characters from the original making the jump to the live-action slasher, such as Rabbit, the Heffalumps and the Woozles.
The announcement comes as the first sequel hits U.S. cinemas as part of a three-day theatrical run via Fathom Events.
The first film opened in early 2023 and earned $5.2 million globally from a sub-$50,000 budget. Whilst that film was widely panned, the second film (with a ten times larger budget) has been much better received.
The announcement also follows in the wake of the team-up project “Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble,” which sees characters from the “Blood and Honey” films and others from the first batch of titles in the Twisted Childhood Universe, team up.
Murderous versions of Winnie, Bambi, Tinkerbell, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Tigger, Piglet, The Mad Hatter and Sleeping Beauty are all expected to appear in the ‘Poohniverse’ film which aims to arrive in early-mid 2025.
