A third and final film in Julian Fellowes’ historical drama franchise, “Downton Abbey,” is in the works according to one of the show’s co-stars.
Last month came reports that filming began in January on a secret ‘Downton’ project that could hit screens as early as the end of this year.
They speculated it was a new series but a Radio Times report says “there are no immediate plans for new episodes”.
Both were correct it seems as this week actress Imelda Staunton confirmed to BBC Radio’s Zoe Ball that they’re doing another movie: “There will be the final film – there you go” she says.
Ball then asked if Staunton had gotten into any trouble admitting that to which “The Crown” actress responded: “I don’t care.”
The news comes roughly two years after the release of the second film “Downton Abbey: A New Era”.
