A new report in British tabloid The Sun says “Kick-Ass” and “Bullet Train” actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson has received a ‘formal offer’ to take on the role of James Bond for EON Productions.
The BBC reportedly approached both the actor’s reps and EON for comment, with a production insider telling them there’s “no truth in the rumours”.
Taylor-Johnson has long been rumored for the part in the past year or so, especially in the UK press.
However producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have made it clear on numerous occasions the film is still years away from happening with Broccoli quoted as saying just a few weeks back: “There’s nothing I can tell you about the next Bond film. There’s nothing. Nothing is happening yet.”
Taylor-Johnson, meanwhile, has said that being considered for the part is a “great compliment”. He is in the right age range that the producers have indicated they’re looking at for the next 007 film.
Whomever takes the job will replace Daniel Craig who left the role in 2021 after starring in five films over sixteen years.
