The “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” filmmakers are planning to expand on the success of their micro-budget slasher with something far more ambitious – the Twisted Childhood Universe (TCU).
The team is taking the sub-$50,000 budget film and its $5.2 million box-office success and expanding on it with a feature that will serve as something of an “Avengers” of childhood character IP in the public domain.
“Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble” will bring together their feral serial killer interpretation of A. A. Milne’s jovial bear Winnie the Pooh and team him with other beloved kid’s characters gone bad.
Murderous versions of Bambi, Tinkerbell, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Tigger, Piglet, The Mad Hatter and Sleeping Beauty are all expected to be a part of the production which hails from Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios.
The “Poohniverse” film is targeting a 2025 release and has already unveiled some poster art. Many of the characters will first feature in standalone films coming this year including “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2” opening next week along with “Bambi: The Reckoning,” “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare” and “Pinocchio Unstrung” all arriving later this year.
Rhys Jake-Waterfield, who directed the two “Blood and Honey” films, will also direct “Poohniverse”. which will include Scott Chambers as Christopher Robin, Megan Plactio as Wendy Darling, Roxanne Mckee as Xana and Lewis Santer as Tigger.
